Prior to getting pregnant, we had decided to keep our intentions a secret and wait until we were out of the first trimester to share the news. I decided to test one afternoon (the day before Dave's birthday) and sure enough I saw a faint double line. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me as I looked at it and then the tears started to pour as I walked aimlessly in circles around the bedroom. I desperately wanted to keep the news to myself so I could tell Dave the next morning. Well since it was only 3:30 in the afternoon, it was sheer torture waiting and sleeping that night. The next morning I got up bright and early to take another test, just to be sure. Again I saw those beautiful little lines. I had this cute idea of getting Dave a birthday cake that read "Happy Birthday Dad", but I couldn't stand to wait another moment. I rushed over to the bed, shook his arm, and said "Dave, I need to tell you something." As most of you know my husband is not a morning person, but he slowly began to open his eyes. I put the test in front of him and said, "I'm pregnant!" His eyes bulged open as he sat straight up and said, "Really?!" His face...
The next moments were filled with hugs, laughter, tears, and thoughts of what the future would bring. Dave likes to say it was the best birthday present he's ever gotten :). So on October 13th 2009 we discovered our greatest gift!
